Start an Internet Business

Many people aspire to one day start an internet business. It's an easy thought - you've got the laptop, you have an internet connection and you have an idea. All you want is to get it online and start making money, right?

Then if you are like 99% of the other work from home internet business marketers out there, then you really are going to go nowhere fast. That is unless you have a plan.

I am Kevin O'Connor, owner of Insight Negotiations and author of my internet business product, Seriously Simple Sums! that has been selling online on the internet for nearly three years now. I know what it's like starting out on the web - having an idea - a dream - but how do you make it happen?

I can tell you first hand that it won't happen overnight. It takes time, effort and the right knowledge to get your online business up and generating an income.

You need to think about many things when starting out online, such as:

What am I wanting to sell?

Is it a downloadable product such as an ebook? Do you want to offer video downloads or audio files such as podcasts?

Is there a market for it?

Are there many other Internet Businesses selling the same products that you want to sell? How can you be different?

How can I offer more than one product?

Perhaps you can offer an "up sell" of your internet product.

Rather than just offering an ebook, perhaps you could offer the customer some related videos to compliment the ebook.

How can I get my product designed and created?

Looking for a good graphic designer isn't an easy task. You need to make sure they have references that check out, and

proven experience that you can see from other online products they have done.

How can I get others to sell it for me?

Get hold of your own online internet sales team by offering affiliates a percentage of profits from sales they generate.

What hosting providers do I need to use? What is hosting? What about a domain name?
What are my tax implications? What about selling to customers outside of Ireland?
How do I handle payments?
What about an international phone number for my customers to contact me?
What about a website? What do I need to know?
Search Engine Optimising - what's involved?
What about online advertising?
I want to make this online internet business as automated as possible - can I do it that way?

These are just some of the many things you will need to think about when embarking on starting an internet business.

The good news is I have been through it all - from the marketing and design stages right up to paying out affiliates for selling my products for me. 95% of my business is automated. I still receive phone calls and emails, but I need to. Potential customers need to know that you are a real person and a contactable business.
