Overview
A significant number of body movements used together (known as a cluster), is a sign of fear and readiness to give in.
This is most commonly seen in animals, where fighting (that could potentially kill one another) is avoided by the animals showing displays of anger like aggression (roaring etc) or submission.

Ever noticed someone covering their mouth either when they are talking or you are? They may cover the whole mouth or use a fist, or only a few fingers but essentially it all means the same thing - they are lying!

Evaluation of what you have to say/offer is typically shown by a closed hand on the cheek often with a finger pointed up.

Just like folded arms position, crossed legs can demonstrate that a negative attitude may exist. However crossed arms do indicate a more negative attitude than do crossed legs. Additionally the crossed arms gesture is more obvious.

So what is behind someone rubbing their eye whilst talking with you?
The theory is that the brain is attempting to block out the person’s deceit, lie or doubt that it is seeing or indeed avoiding having to look at the person to whom they are lying to.

One way of telling if someone is not telling you the whole truth is to watch out for their hand going up to their nose.
